The brain of the ocean

The Brain Of The Ocean is an object created with cardboard, matchstick boxes, paint and paper with the purpose of explaining the memories of an ocean found within its brain. Inside the matchstick boxes, or also called brain compartments, stamps from around the world divided into regions are to be found. They represent the flow of the water in the different oceans and how they fuse together and hence travel the world. In the upper part of the object an artificial insight into the ocean is present and encourages the viewer to participate and to explore the object by opening and closing the section or veil. In the lower part of the brain a message in a bottle is located, containing the melancholy of a love letter. This represents the travel of the water and how it serves as a medium for transport, be it a bottle or a ship.

Eye tree

Eye tree is environmental art created in response to an article about enlarging human eyes in favour of acquiring better eyesight and night vision. I made 20 eye balls - in size bigger than normal human eyes- with he use of newspaper, PVA glue, acrylic paint and felt tip pens. The artificial eyes were hung on a tree and photos were taken. They represent the advancement of human technology and how we alter the environment around us in order to suit our needs. If we were capable of improving aspects of our bodies we would most likely do so, and bizarre creations would arise from that, like eyes that grow on trees. What could be more freaky than personified trees?

War Tripping

War Tripping is a book containing a collection of prints that tell a story about the psychologic impact war has on the soldiers involved. The prints are all monoprints and are painted over with acrylic paint afterwards. I bound the book and made the cover myself.

Soft Landing' stop frame animation
They travel long, they travel short. Feathers of gloom, feathers of light, watch them live, watch them die. Out of taps, inside eggs: water was never this soft.
